A guest researcher – also called ‘visiting scholar’ – is defined as a person who is externally funded and visits an academic division, research group or individual researcher for a specific period of time at MUL. A guest researcher is not employed at Montanuniversität, does therefore not get any financial compensation from MUL and is consequently not insured at MUL.
It is the university’s a goal to record international activities occurring at MUL as best as possible. This is why the international department in cooperation with the personnel department of MUL installed a new process, through which guest researchers shall be registered. As soon as the guest researcher is registered, MUL access data and an email account can be requested for the guest.
MIRO offers administrative assistance in registering guest researchers at MUL and is also the contact point for general pieces of advice about housing, insurance and visa matters.
MIRO represents MUL within the EURAXESS network. EURAXESS is a platform that provides extensive information about mobility matters, allows universities and individual people to connect and find projects and funding possibilities. It offers an opportunity for researchers, entrepreneurs, universities and businesses to connect and interact with each other.
All services of the EURAXESS network are free of charge.
